New Portakabin CEO eyes international expansion

Mr Carter joined Portakabin last year as managing director and now takes excessive job from Stephen Price, who retires after 17 years on the helm. Mr Price remains a non-executive director of the Shepherd Group.

The new CEO was previously chief executive of Fairline, the boatbuilder, and before that headed up Lewmar, a supplier of hardware to the marine industry. He’s an accountant by profession and is active within the CBI.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Carter said that he had international expansion plans for Portakabin. “I have joined a thrilling, forward-thinking company which delivers buildings of the best quality, consistently on time and to budget, in a number of the most challenging situations – all of which remain fundamental to this great British brand,” he said. “We will continue to construct on its strength and reputation while growing existing markets and expanding into new markets in Europe and ultimately internationally.”
