Housing Quality Concerns in the UK

While it is difficult to draw firm conclusions, it has been a concern of many construction companies that overall housing construction quality has been decreasing in the UK.

Conventional construction does provide good quality housing but there is a general feeling that quality will need to improve

It is possible that this feeling is fuelled by high profile media coverage of a few examples of poor practice, as well as increasing customer expectations, than to an overall decline.

But there is a perception that build quality is declining, and that it has to rise, if only to meet the higher performance standards required by new building regulations.

In accordance with building regulations, there is a limit to what can be achieved in terms of predictable performance given the adverse working conditions on building sites and a largely contracted workforce.

However, MMC housing manufactured in controlled conditions with a dedicated workforce has the potential to provide more consistent quality.
