Clay or Concrete Roofs?

Deciding what materials to use for a roof can have a big impact on a building project, effecting many aspects from the way the roof will look to how much it will cost. A common choice of materials that many construction companies have to make is whether to use concrete or clay for a roof.

Usually found in warmer climates, clay or concrete roofs require a structurally reinforced building. This is due to the weight of the materials used. Similar in design to metal roofs, clay and concrete roofs are weather resistant as well as effective at keeping a building cool in warmer temperatures. Clay has historically been limited to a narrow colour range, however this is now beginning to change. It has a durable constitution that gives it a lifespan of over 50 years.

Making the choice between clay or concrete can also mean making the choice between a modern roof, or a traditional one. With clay usually being the choice for a traditional roof.
