What is Cladding?
Cladding is an exterior wall cladding that typically protects from the elements. This type of cladding is most often made up of wood, but it can also be constructed from metal or any other material that will not allow heat or rainfall to reach the building’s exterior.
Cladding increases thermal energy efficiency and improves the aesthetics of a building while not adversely affecting weather resistance. The cladding element is non-load-bearing, which is not structurally integral to the building itself.
Cladding can either be fitted to an existing building of traditional masonry construction or can be incorporated into the design of a brand new building.
There are many types of materials that can be used for cladding. What is used on your building is entirely dependent on various factors, including the weather in the area and what is living or being stored in the building. Some material examples are:
Brick
Tile
Stone
Concrete
Glass
