Heavy Duty Construction Tools – Skid-Steer Loader
Heavy duty construction tools are a necessity for all modern building sites. Many jobs require the use of these heavy calibre tools, making the most of them requires knowledge as well as skill.
Skid-steer loader
A skid-steer loader is used primarily to save labour on building sites. It can be equipped with various different attachments, each of which are designed for a certain job. Skid-steer loaders are typically four-wheel vehicles with the wheels mechanically locked in synchronization on each side.
The drive wheels can be driven independently of the right-side drive wheels. The wheels typically have no separate steering mechanism and hold a fixed straight alignment on the body of the machine.
This is where the name ‘skid’ comes from, as its fixed-orientation wheels drag across the ground when it is being operated. The rigid frame and strong wheel bearings prevent the torsional forces caused by this dragging motion from damaging the machine.
The is turned by generating velocity at the opposite sides of the vehicle. In a similar way to tracked vehicles.
