New construction chief at HSE

Heather Bryant, currently divisional director for London, the east and southeast, takes over from Philip White on the end of March.

After four years in post, Mr White is moving to take charge of HSE’s operational strategy division, which oversees the regulation of waste & recycling, agriculture and manufacturing.

Ms Bryant have been with the HSE for 26 years. Her new posts sees her heading a division of 260 specialist inspectors, policy officials and support staff.

“Construction is one in every of Britain’s most vital industries and employs an enormous collection of people,” she said. “All of these people have a basic right to go back home safe and well from their day’s work. To its credit, the world has already been making good progress in reducing the variety of people killed, injured or made unwell by its activities. We must continue that momentum, working with others to be a part of the answer. i’m awaiting working with the complete industry in order for progress continues and our regulations are properly interested in handling real risks, not needless process and paperwork.”

She becomes HSE’s second female chief inspector of construction – Sandra Caldwell was the primary.
